Four Family Friendly Events in Austin

Four Family Friendly Events in Austin

It can be challenging to come up with an activity that the entire family can enjoy. Thankfully, Austin has a pretty great line up of family friendly events to choose from in the upcoming summer months. Be sure to consider checking out one of these events, as they all offer great opportunities to spend quality time with the family. If you're looking for a solution to get around without worrying about finding parking or fighting traffic along the way, head over to San Marcos Party Bus!

Tiny Tails Petting Zoo

@ Brentwood Social House on May 26 at 3PM

All ages can enjoy the cute animals that will be at Brentwood Social House! This petting zoo will feature animals like rabbits, baby chickens, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, and more. It's only $10 for admission, and it runs until 5PM. It will be a lot of fun having some one on one time with animals that the children don't get to see regularly.

Ice Cream Social

@ Howson Branch Library June 2 at 1PM

Don't miss out on this free ice cream social from 1PM to 3PM! It's meant to mark the beginning of summer, and that's always something to celebrate. There will be live music from the folk band Honeypunch, popsicles from Mom and Pop's, and summer craft lessons to partake in. It's only one of the many events that the library will be hosting through the summer, so be sure to check out their calendar.

Austin Symphony Children's Day Art Park

@ Austin Central Library on June 6 at 10 AM

Here's another free event to consider checking out this summer. The Austin Central Library will feature a interactive percussion area, instrument making, arts and crafts, coloring stations, as well as storytelling each Wednesday. The itinerary for this event is jam packed with entertainment every time. If you miss out on this session on June 6, don't worry, as it happens every week through out the summer with a new musical guest each time.

Father Daughter Dance

@ 13201 Ranch Rd on June 16 at 5PM

Father daughter dances are special memories that children and parents carry for years. This event organized by Capital Events is $20 for each couple which is well worth it when you consider the fact that dinner is included in the ticket price. Please consider bringing two non perishable food items to benefit the Austin Food Bank!

Baby & Toddler Basics

Posted by SuperMomSurveys on February 7, 2018 at 11:45 AM Comments comments (0)

This post was sponsored by the Role Mommy Writer's Network. All opinions are 100% my own.

I have 5 kids, ages 10, 9, 7, 5, and 1. Whether you’re a new mom or dad, or a well-seasoned mom of 5 like me, there are always situations that come up that leave us scratching our heads. Like when the babies have their days and nights mixed up or they haven’t pooped in a few days.

One question that keeps getting me, is about night terrors and nightmares. Holy cow! My oldest had night terrors when she was very young. It was...well...terrifying. I had no idea why it was happening, or how to deal with it. I did know that stress and tiredness can contribute to them, but she was such a happy person and never gave me trouble going to sleep. She took two naps every day and had a good appetite. She was an only child at that time, so all of my attention was on her. She never needed anything for more than 5 minutes. To say the least, it was extremely confusing.

I was given an opportunity to get a copy of a new book that gives expert answers to parents’ top 150 questions. Night terrors and nightmares are covered in it. I wish I had this book back then.

Baby & Toddler Basics explains the difference between night terrors and nightmares, when to expect them and how to minimize the occurrence. The book says to try to wake them up about 15 minutes before they usually occur in order to break the cycle. I sure could have used that advice back then. I just sat with her until it passed and stayed terrified during, and for a while after it was finished. I felt horrible for her, even though she didn’t even remember it had happened.

You may have seen the author, Tanya Altmann, on the “Live with Kelly and Ryan" show on January 31st. She is a renowned, practicing pediatrician. I did see a couple of things in the book that I have different opinions on (like the section on sleeping through the night), but overall, I loved Baby & Toddler Basics.

I can’t wait to utilize the book. I have quite a few ages going on and can finally have some great answers to the questions that I’ve had for years now.

Want to check it out? The book was just released on February 6th. You can buy it on amazon

What questions did you have that you wished you could have answered with expert advice that actually worked for you and your child? Let me know in the comments. Let’s converse!

Have a wonderful day, ya’ll!

AdvoWire - For My Fellow Bloggers

AdvoWire is a great way to connect with brands and other bloggers. You can sell your services, such as ad space, guest posts, stock photography, etc.. You can also check out the Opps Board, which has jobs that need to be done and someone wants to pay you to do it.

I've been with AdvoWire a long time...well before they did a complete overhaul of the site. I loved them before, and I love them now.

Your earnings will go into your account and you can cash them out at $10. There is a tax form to fill out, so make sure you get around to that.

To get the most out of the site, I recommend you connect all of your social networks, but at least 3 of your biggest.

Getting started is easy and free.  Just sign up for an account on AdvoWire, and if you wouldn't mind, please use my referral code if asked: AW14150

BeForthRight Surveys

Posted by SuperMomSurveys on January 1, 2018 at 2:45 PM Comments comments (0)

BeForthRight Surveys used to be Innopoll. They work much in the same way as in payments (still immediate to Paypal), or you can choose another option. You can also save up your earnings to cash out at a later time. I usually do Paypal payments right after I finish a survey. It's usually $3 for longer surveys, $2 for medium length ones and $1 for shorter ones. You set a preference for your desired length/payments.

There are Forthright surveys and partner surveys. Forthright surveys come less often than the partner surveys, but whether or not you qualify for the survey, you still get a loyalty star. Once you have 3 stars, you get a $2 reward.

Oh! and you can complete up to 3 surveys a day. So, if you can qualify for 3 surveys a day, (so not hard to do), than you can make about $9 a day! Pretty sweet deal.

The interface is very user-friendly and straight-forward. Everything is right there for you to see and there's not a lot of extra, not useful filler type stuff everywhere. I love that.

I've been paid from this one so many times already. I've been a member for a while. Just shy of a year, I think.

What's your favorite survey company? Let me know in the comments! We can converse!

Donations for Food Banks and Shelters

Posted by SuperMomSurveys on December 29, 2017 at 10:55 AM Comments comments (0)

I've put a donation button on my homepage at the top right. I want to keep it there year-round and help families in need with different things throughout the year.

Currently, I donate my samples that I get to the local shelters and I love to help out the local safe havens for animals. I participate and frequent Freecycle.org regularly to help families and to help keep things out of the landfills. I'd love to be able to do more.

Here's what I'm thinking. The cause will change as the seasons and holidays change. For right now, I thought a good thing would be donations to help food banks and shelters.  I'd love to be able to give to the safe havens for pets as well.   I'll send out a new post when the cause changes. If you guys have a suggested cause, I'd love to hear that too!

If you have suggestions, just let me know. I'd love to hear them. This is a work in progress and I'd love to know what ya'll think. You can leave a comment on this post, or on my facebook page, or email me directly at [email protected]

If you'd like to help, you can click on the donate button on my homepage.

I sure hope everyone has a wonderful day and an awesome New Year's!

Branding Yourself

Posted by SuperMomSurveys on December 20, 2017 at 11:10 AM Comments comments (1)

LogoJoy

We all know that if you're thinking of starting a blog or business, you need to brand yourself. The first step to doing that is to make a logo.

I know. It sounds extremely intimidating for most of us. We don't know where to start or what to do next or anything. Well, I found a site that takes the guesswork out of it and all you have to do is put in your name and tagline and then it shows you tons of options based on your preferences. Then, you just pick out what you like best.

That's not all. You can then personalize it as much as you want. I did the premium option, which is $65.00. This option gives you tons of resources for handling your logo and the ability to further change your logo for the next 72 hours. It's a good price, (based on my research so far), and it's {by far} the easiest and most user-friendly option. It really simplifies things to a level that I did the whole setup in about 15 minutes. I have 5 kids...currently all having the flu...so 15 minutes to completely finish something so important, is perfect for me.

Here's a screenshot of my dashboard:

There are cheaper options available and there is a live chat that you can access the whole time if you happen to neep help along the way.

LogoJoy is awesome, plain and simple. I'll also be sharing a link on my facebook and twitter for a great discount! Be sure to watch for that!

For those of you that have already done a logo, what site did you use? Why did you choose that one?  If you choose to check out LogoJoy, what option looks the most appealing to you and why? I can't wait to see what you guys think!

Donations for Thanksgiving and Christmas

Posted by SuperMomSurveys on November 16, 2017 at 11:10 AM Comments comments (6)

I'd like to start doing something new on my site.

So, I was thinking...

And then, it popped into my head... Why haven't I had a donations button on my site? Just in case someone else wants to help too? So, I set one up this morning.

Here's what I'm thinking. The cause will change as the seasons and holidays change. For right now, I thought a good thing would be donations to help families with their Thanksgiving dinners and a toy drive at Christmas time.  I'll send out a new post when the cause changes. If you guys have a suggested cause, I'd love to hear that too!

First, the Thanksgiving dinners help. I would like to buy the turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, veggies and a pumpkin pie with the donations. I can bag each "meal kit" of sorts together and then donate them as I have them assembled.

Now, the toy drive.  My kids' school always has a toy drive, but if ya'll don't mind, I'd like to donate directly to shelters. They are always in need and can end up being left out, because of funding, quite a bit.

If you have suggestions, just let me know. I'd love to hear them. This is a work in progress and I'd love to know what ya'll think. You can leave a comment on this post, or on my facebook page, or email me directly at [email protected]

If you'd like to help, you can click on the donate button on my homepage, or just go straight to the donation form.

I sure hope everyone has a wonderful day and an awesome Thanksgiving next week!

SPONSORED: Car Seat Safety Week

Posted by SuperMomSurveys on September 28, 2017 at 11:30 AM Comments comments (0)

Sponsored Post

It's Car Seat Safety Week, so I thought I'd mention a really great (and detailed) article that takes you step-by-step, complete with pictures, through the process of correctly installing a car seat with a latch or seat belt. Cars.com has a really great site and they care about you and your little ones. They've put together a couple of articles for you to check out. Let's face it. When you're a parent, and you've installed car seats a million times, it starts to seem like second nature. It's been my experience that we all could use just a little refresher from time to time to make sure we stay up to date on the latest information available. I have 5 kids, ages 9 months to 10 years, so keeping up to date and refreshing my knowledge is essential to the safety of my family. In a world where information is constantly changing, I am so thankful for articles like these.

Cars.com also offers many other services to make comparing and buying cars easy. With just a click of a button you can find cars for sale near you, compare models, and research specific models. It can be tricky to find a car that's just right for you and your family. These tools can prove themselves to be invaluable.

Looking to sell your car? No problem. They help take the guesswork out of that too. You can find out what your car is worth and list it right on the site. As if that's not enough, you can also find help with service and repairs. There's also tons of reviews you can read and lots of videos to watch.

What's your best advice for Car Seat Safety Week? Let me know in the comments.

SPONSORED: Divatress

Posted by SuperMomSurveys on June 29, 2017 at 9:35 AM Comments comments (6)

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine.

So you need a wig for whatever reason.  Or maybe you just love to change up your look here and there. Finding a trust-worthy company can be hard. There's so many different suppliers out there and you never know what you're going to get. Now you can rest easy and look no further, because Divatress is the leader in black hair care. They offer thousands of products and brands. They believe everyone should feel like a diva.

Their website is super easy to navigate and find exactly what you're looking for. I was looking at the Lace Front Wigs. OMG...they are gorgeous! You have so many options to add some color, shorten or lengthen your look, or even add a braid or ponytail. With so many pricing options, you're sure to find your perfect style at Divatress.

I decided to look through the lacefront wig section, because they are so popular. They usually look more natural than other options, which is important to most of us. No one wants to look like they're wearing a wig. They're ready to wear and look like it's supposed to be there. You really can't go wrong with them. Now that's what I call beauty.

New to the wig game? No problem. Just scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll find a link to the instructions. You can check out the 'About Divatress' link to so that you can learn all about the company and their mission.

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are 100% mine.

I absolutely love Groupon. I also love coupons. If you’re with me on this, you are going to love the next thing I say.

Groupon Coupons! That’s right...Groupon has coupons for all your favorite places to shop, as well as savings on events and products and restaurants. This is probably the best thing I’ve heard all week.

Groupon Coupons is awesome. You can search by store or category, and it will show you all it’s great deals right away. When I clicked on stores for results, I got 81 coupons for Target, 174 for Macy’s and 177 for Kohl’s. That’s just the first three stores I looked at! I am going to be using these all the time! I spend so much money at the stores they have on this list...And now I’m going to be saving so much more! Can you imagine the savings when it’s time to shop for back to school stuff and clothes?! I am now looking forward to that time of year that I used to dread so much. My husband and I have 5 kids, (3 of which go to school), so we can definitely take advantage of some coupons for shopping!

There are far too many stores to list, but you can check them out on your computer or mobile anytime. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed with the results.

You can also check them out on Facebook and Twitter.

GUEST POST: Picking the Right Lipstick for You

Posted by SuperMomSurveys on June 27, 2016 at 10:30 AM Comments comments (0)

Picking the Right Lipstick for You

Lavishly shaded lips have dependably been connected with sparkling great well-being. At the point when nature did not give the lips a sufficient flush actually, beauty care products gave them a little offer assistance. Lipstick stays a standout amongst the most prominent restorative choices, adding shine to an expert search and appeal for a night trip.

The most punctual monetarily accessible lipsticks were not sticks by any stretch of the imagination. Lip tints came in cakes of squeezed color and were connected with a brush. They organized on-screen characters overstate their elements to make expressions less demanding to see from the back columns, however the beauty care products were just worn in front of an audience. The films changed that, and on-screen characters who had learned subtler application systems started to wear their blushed lips off the set, making resurgence in lipstick design.

Picking an Incredible Lipstick

In spite of the fact that there is no such thing as a right lipstick, there are a lot of wrong ones. Locate an extraordinary lipstick by paying consideration on shading hints, transparency, and splendor.

Lipstick color:

At the point when looking for a lipstick, note the color hints as opposed to the essential color. Makeup specialists arrange skin tones and cosmetics tints as warm, cool, or unbiased taking into account its undercurrents. Shades with a brilliant, yellow, or orange connotation are warm; those with blue or purple are cool. A genuine fuchsia, for instance, is a cool pink since it has a little measure of blue in the blend. Poppy is a warm red since it is blended with a touch of orange.

A color should likewise suit the wearer's skin tone. When in doubt, the more prominent the difference between the skin tone and the lipstick, the more emotional and observable the lip color will be. Think about a reasonable cleaned individual in profound plum or a man with mahogany skin in a pale artful dance shoe pink to outline this idea. On the other hand, lower contrast looks less recognizable and along these lines less sensational.

Wardrobe color decisions ought to educate lipstick choices. While it is not important to coordinate a red dress to red lipstick exactly, the two shades of red ought to have comparative hints. When in doubt, combine warm shades with tans, tans, olive greens, and gold. Pick cooler lipstick shades with soul, purples, and grays.

Lipstick formula:

Lipsticks change in their haziness, completion, and composition. Search for a lipstick that suits dry, dried out lips' dampness needs and pick an emollient formula. Long-wearing recipes might be a good fit for the individuals who have a major occasion arranged; not worrying about successive touch-ups might be worth spoiling lips a while later.

Lipstick Venue:

Lipstick may not venture out any sweat to the workplace and to a supper date. Splendid, high- differentiate lipsticks pull center; this is an advantage for a cosmetics style that requires a strong mouth, yet it can occupy at a conference. To wear brighter tints for day, search for a transparent cream equation that adjusts a brilliant tone with a repressed completion.

For night, any shade of lipstick can be proper. A night out is an ideal opportunity to wear brilliant or sparkling shades. In any case, evening lips don't need to be strong. An unbiased, low- differentiate lipstick can make a successful foil for emotional eye cosmetics.

Nordstrom offers a large number of beauty products including lipstick, nail polish, skin care products etc. You can get lipstick of any color with Nordstrom online coupons by visiting the beauty section.

New Technology Slashes Electricity Bills for Texans

This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own.

Many Texans, myself included, are so super tired of your electricity bill running through the roof and gouging your pockets where you keep all your hard-earned money. I know this feeling all too well...with bills up to $400-$500 every month in the high months. It can be hard for the average family to keep paying these types of bills. Well, there is an alternative out there, (if you’re not in a regulated area). I was fortunate enough to be included in a sponsored post for a company called Energy Ogre.

If you live in a deregulated market in Texas (and millions do), there is a new technology company that is helping people save 40-60% off their energy bills. Sadly, this is not the case for me. I live in a regulated area...so I don’t have any options unless I want to move to a different city. BUT...those of you who don’t live in a regulated area, are so lucky. Just keep reading...you guys are going to love me after reading this!

I know. I know. You’re skeptical. You don’t like change. You think it’s too good to be true. My husband is the biggest skeptic I know, and he’s pretty hardcore about it, but even he is open to entertaining the idea of moving. With savings this significant, it sure seems like it would be worth it.

We all know the proof is in the pudding, right? So here’s what I’d like to ask you to do...

First, take just a few minutes and use this savings calculator to learn what you could be paying based on your usage. Energy Ogre is a one-of-a-kind technology company. The technology scours the current offers in Texas and finds the best deal for you. Homeowners, apartment renters, business owners are all saving some SERIOUS money.

Important Note: Energy Ogre is NOT an energy provider and the company doesn't get paid by any energy provider for preferential treatment. They only find the best deal for the end consumer. They are a highly rated company with 5.0 reviews.

I did start the sign-up process to see how it would be for you guys. You just enter your basic information along with a little info about your electric company. I had a bill handy, so I went ahead and filled out the meter number. The second page is where you let them know some of your preferences, including whether you want to enroll in renewable (green) products. You’ll also let them know if you’re under contract with your current company, and list any providers that you would rather not work with. There are only 3 simple pages to the sign-up process. Here’s a screenshot I took of the second page:

After using the calculator and learning how much you can save, you have the option to pay Energy Ogre $10 a month to become your "administrative assistant" and make changes on your behalf. This takes the hassle out of dealing with your energy providers and you just sit back and save big money!

Check out what the press is saying about Energy Ogre!

Here are a just a few reviews that you can read on their Facebook Page:

Alisha: "My bill got up to almost $200 a month in the summer in a small one-bedroom apartment. Now my bill has never been even close to $50 a month. I am so happy and thankful for this company who helped me save some much needed money for other bills!"

Bernie: "Went with Energy Ogre 3 months ago, previously w/TXU for years @ .095 / KWH - bills ran anywhere from $160 - $300 - first three months w/ Energy Ogre - bills were Sept - $49, Oct.- $59, and Nov.-$57 - and we're an all electric house."

Adam: "Energy Ogre is the best! I got out of a contract with an early termination fee and still saved lots of money!"

"Houston-based Energy Ogre’s focus is on electricity but at its heart, this is a technology company that uses analytics to find a rate that fits their clients’ demand profile." via Houston Business Journal

Kathy: "Got my first bill after signing up with Ogre and my bill dropped from the high $200s to $85! I was in shock .. but very happy!"

The personnel behind Energy Ogre have been involved with the Texas electricity markets since well before they deregulated in 2002. This group has built power plants, scheduled fuel and electricity and even owned and managed Retail Electricity Providers in the recent past. In 2013 they decided to create Energy Ogre to help end use customers fully unlock the benefits of the deregulated electricity markets.

So, what do you think? Worth a look? I should say so. There’s a lot of potential savings at stake! After you do the savings calculator, comment and let me know what your estimated savings were...I’d love to hear the results!
