George Washington Carver by John Perry

As a member of Booksneeze, I received a free copy of George Washington Carver by John Perry to review.  This book is one of the books in the Christian Encounters Series.

I chose this book, because I thought it would be really interesting to read about the guy that invented 145 uses for peanuts...and it was.  Very interesting.  The book is completely full of facts about George Washington Carver.

I was pleased to read that his faith in God is what got him through his toughest times.  It's easy to lose sight of that when you're faced with, what seems like, a never-ending sting of bad luck.  George Washington Carver's story is very inspiring, to say the least.  The obstacles he overcomes to ensure that he doesn't lose sight of what he wants to accomplish is simply amazing.

My only complaint, is about the time progression.  The book was, in my opinion, very jumpy.  It seemed to go from one fact to the next without really setting a timeline of any kind.  Because of that, George Washington Carver serves more as a reference book than a biography.  That's just me though.  There are plenty of people that don't agree with me on that.  The rythym of the info just wasn't right for me.

That said, this book really does feed you full of interesting information.  After reading George Washington Carver, I feel like I could have known him personally.

Retail price is $12, though I did find it on Amazon for $10.74.
